DOG Leadership Academy

Managing Director
Dr. Philip Gass, München
Scientific Director
Prof. Dr. Nikolaos E. Bechrakis, Essen

Leadership tasks are a particular challenge for doctors who take on management roles in scientific ophthalmology. The skills required to meet these challenges professionally are often not taught during training. The DOG aims to fill this training gap by establishing its own Leadership Academy.

In a one-year curriculum – consisting of six modules – a small group of participants will learn the basics, methods and tools of effective leadership. Lectures, teamwork, reflection and evening events with inspiring speakers are the cornerstones of this training. Topics such as the basics of the healthcare system and business management, human resources management, communication and conflict management, self-management and more are presented and explored by renowned experts. Offers for alumni of the Academy will enable them to deepen their knowledge and build sustainable networks after conclusion of the training.

The training will be offered annually.

This offer is part of the programme to promote young talents. With the new Leadership Academy the DOG provides young ophthalmologists with leadership skills and prepares them for the leadership roles they will assume in their professional careers in scientific ophthalmology.
