2008 the DOG has founded a charitable foundation Stiftung Auge is a foundation which is based in Munich. The aim of the foundation is to actively combat causes of blindness. Since 2008, the charitable foundation has been supporting clinical and basic research projects in ophthalmology and awarding research grants and scholarships. The foundation provides information to the public about eye diseases, the causes of blindness and ways to prevent and treat them.
